Enemies in Postknight are the main threat to the player during the adventure, damaging and knocking them backwards to prevent progress through each level. Each world contains eight different enemies, consisting of four melee enemies, three ranged enemies and one boss enemy. Each of these can be defeated by the player and contribute to any active quests.
There are three main enemy AIs within Postknight: Melee, Ranged and Boss. Melee enemies tend to walk to the left of the screen, directly at the player to come in close quarters with and damage them. Ranged enemies have the distinction of having no movement patterns and fire physical or magical projectiles leftwards at the player. Boss enemies are unique, having both traits of movement and ranged attacking. Boss AI will have the Boss retreat periodically if the player approaches or damages them, moving rightwards away from the player.
